SARDINE / ANCHOVY
Characteristics and distribution of the resource: Pelagic fish with a coastal habit, it forms dense schools between the surface and 50 m deep. Anchovy is distributed between regions I and X; the Sardine is preferably distributed between regions V and X, it lives in depths that do not exceed 50 m. in the day and between 5 and 15 m. at night. Longitudinally, it is found from the mean baseline of the coast to 30 nautical miles to the west.
Average size: 12 cm.
Main production/presentation lines: Mainly fish meal and oil. Other products: fresh, cans, salted anchovy fillets. Frozen: Whole Gutted (H-on), Headless Gutted (HG).
